Native American Art

This course on ancient to contemporary art and architecture produced by Indigenous peoples throughout North and South America examines not only the social, religious, political, and personal functions of art, but also the ethical and legal issues surrounding archeology, collecting, and repatriation.

"Arts of Indigenous America"
The Arts of Indigenous America, January 30 to February 28, 2020, Fine Art Gallery, CSU Pueblo

In Fall 2019, students planned an exhibition using objects from the Orman collection.

About

The exhibition celebrates the role of indigenous artists in our region's past and present, featuring the work of local contemporary artists Arley Woodty and Severino Martinez, and objects from the Orman Collection.

Virtual Tour

See photographs of the installation and learn about some highlights from the Orman collection.

Collaboration

The exhibition was organized in Art 413 Native American Art. Read about the project here.
